2006 Contra Costa County Fair...

2006 was the fifth year the gang was invited to play in Antioch, California. Fair Manager Lori Marshall was our hands down winner for last year's Fifth Annual Best of The West Awards and lived up to all of our lofty expectations this year, as well, putting on a fantastic show for the fair's 70th 'Birthday Extravaganza'. We want to say a sincere thank you to Lori and the Contra Costa County Fair Board, and of course Wild West Express Board Member favorite Lynette Busby, who brought us here for the first time all those years ago. Also thanks to the girls who make it all run smooth and take good care of us while we're in Antioch- Denise, Lisa, Becky, Susie,  and Holly!

Curly and Dusty get Lori Marshall to slow down long enough for a photo...something it took them three years to accomplish!

Dusty lassos Lynette Busby, his favorite Board member while Curly tries to find a way to show Lori  his appreciation...

Mike and his lovely gal adopt a grateful Dusty while Dusty's new brothers look on in horror...

Curly explains the 'Fathers Of Daughters Union' rules....

...while Board member Jeff Clark explains to Curly and Dusty what being a Union member is all about.

These lucky fellows show off their wives to Dusty ....while veteran Board member Barney Parsons tries to talk a worn out Curly into giving pony rides to his granddaughter...

Curly meets his new but short lived adopted parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Limrite, the real life parents of Board member Steve Limrite...

Curly helps celebrate this happy couple's honeymoon...and a close call for Curly when he discovered the gal was married to the big fellar.

Dusty keeps a close eye on the fellow performers, often taking notes and learning their shtick word for word- in case they need him to fill in someday, I reckon'.
This young fellars shirt made him seem like family to Curly. It said 'I'm definitely up to something'. Hallelujah!!

Class Of 2006...

We love this fair- more pretty girls than anywhere we go...AND smart as well as pretty. You'll notice the two Denises not reciprocating Curly and Dusty's attempted kisses. Also notice that Dusty has Lisa and Suzy roped but is trying to kiss Denise. (That just don't seem right...)

And, on account of she was working while the rest of us were goofing off, Becky wasn't able to attend our group photo session/get together, so we took the LOVE to her in the Livestock Office- right in front of a 'faux' horse, who somehow was able to bite Dusty's right hand just before he put around Becky.  Poor Dusty just doesn't have the knack like Curly does for charmin' the women folk...or the animals either it appears.

Oh...one more 'class' photo- the big guy is Dave who has left me holding the camera while muscling in on mine and Dusty's gals.  He thought better of it, apparently, not wanting to infuriate an often grumpy Dusty, and I warned Dave that 'he don't want Dusty getting off his horse'.  I guess he didn't and all turned out fine, as we rode off into the sunset in one piece, looking forward to our way too far away return to Antioch and the 2007 Contra Costa County Fair!

See you in 2007!
